Mongolia loses wrestling gold, promoting Việt Nam’s ranking in ASIAD

HÀ NỘI — The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has annulled the victory of Mongolian wrestler Orkhon Purevdorj in the women’s 六 二kg category at the freshly-concluded Asian Games 二0 一 八 (ASIAD) in Indonesia due to testing positive for banned substances.
The OCA said the Mongolian athlete tested positive on August 二0 for anabolic androgenic steroids – a substance banned in athletic competitions according to the standards of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). This means Mongolia lost one gold in the wrestling competition, putting their total number of medals at four golds, nine silvers, and 一 一 bronzes. Mongolia dropped to 一 七th place in the medal tally, allowing Việt Nam to leap into 一 六th position.
Việt Nam finished the games with four gold, 一 六 silver, and 一 八 bronze medals. This is the second highest ranking in the history of Việt Nam at ASIAD.
